As our football season comes to a close, caithfimid tréaslú lenar bpeileadóirí ar fad! What a great season we’ve had with some memorable performances and outstanding games. Our boys had a great campaign, starting with a fantastic display against Tipperary town, Monastery C.B.S. They also secured a good victory over Cahir Boys but lost to a very strong Fethard team. Our U11 boys likewise put in big performances against Gaelscoil Nenagh and Holycross before losing to a very strong Newport side.
Both our U13 and U11 Ladies Football teams secured a place in their respective County Finals after Halloween. Our U13 girls will play St. Joseph’s, Tipperary while our U11 team will face New Inn. These games will be played after midterm.
Our U11 girls showed tremendous heart and spirit in their blitz. They were undefeated but had to face a playoff against Gaelscoil Aonach Urmhumhan with whom we were tied on points. This game finished all square and extra time was played. Nothing could separate these two outstanding teams and a second period of extra time was needed. We eventually emerged victorious and look forward to a County Final after midterm.
Our U13 team came through the local blitz in Durlas Óg where they played Presentation and Ursuline. They travelled to Fethard for a county semi final and recorded a big victory over the local girls and they too will contest a County Final after Halloween.
In congratulating all players who wore the blue and maroon this term and represented our school so gallantly, we also thank Múinteoir Elaine and Múinteoir Norma for their hard work and dedication in training the teams and for all teachers who travelled to the games and helped out in any way.
Maith sibh!
