Gaelscoil Durlas 12-08 Ballylooby  4-04

Tar eis teacht tríd bliots ina raibh orainn imirt i gcoinne foirne láidre ó Ros Cré agus Maigh Choirce, thug cailíní Gaelscoil Durlas aghaidh ar Chaiseal chun Ballylooby a imirt sa chraobh. Lá fluich agus talamh bog, ní raibh na coinníollacha iontach! Ach níor chuir sé sin isteach ar na cailíní agus iad réidh chun an sciath a thabhairt ar ais go Durlas.

The ball was thrown in and the game began. The Gaelscoil midfield pairing of Caoimhe Staicliúm and Maria Raulbh were very dominant from the start. Maria kicked the first score of the game, a point from the left wing. She quickly added a goal before Caoimhe got on the score sheet with a very well worked goal. The Gaelscoil girls worked very hard defending from the inside forward line with Kaelinn Rossiter and Kate Stáicliúm both working tirelessly, making it difficult for Ballylooby to break upfield. Maria added another two very well executed goals before Ballylooby opened their scoring with a goal of their own. As they fought to increase their tally Niamh Ní Chradóg and Niamh Ní Ghormáin, stood solid in defence, dispossessing the Ballylooby attack time and again. When called upon, Leanna Coipingéir was rock solid in goal, making some very good saves. Caoimhe added two further points, one from a 45 before Maria chipped in with two of her own. We went in at half time 5-5 to 0-1 ahead but knowing that our work wasn’t done yet as Ballylooby have a strong footballing tradition and we knew they’d come out fighting in the second half, which they did scoring an early goal.

The Gaelscoil girls responded well with Maria, Caoimhe and corner forward Olivia Raulbh adding a goal each, before Ava Ní Dhuibhir knocked over two points to keep us well in control. Ballylooby continued to fight hard and scored a further 2-03. The Thurles girls deserve great credit for how they saw the game out. They stuck to the task and worked very well as a team, supporting each other and adding another four goals. Aisling Ní Chradóg stood strong in defence and there was great celebrating on the final whistle in the knowledge that the Ladies Football Roinn A trophy was returning to Gaelscoil Durlas, after being absent for a year. Maria Ralph, team captain, accepted the trophy and thanked the refree, Cashel GAA and Ballylooby NS for a sporting game.

Tréaslaímid le Béal Átha Lúbaigh as an gcluiche breá spórtúil a thug said dúinn agus lenár gcáilíní féin. As an traenáil ar fad a chuir said isteach, maraon le taispeántas den scoth ar an lá. Léirigh said croí agus misneach mar aon le réimse mór scileanna chun an corn agus an teideal a bhuachaint.

Molaimid sibh a chailíní!

Táimid iontach bródúil asaibh!
